How do I care for my U-chüs Textiles?

U-chüs textiles are made of 100% organic cotton and dyed using azo-free dyes and natural dyes. While azo-free dyes are extremely colourfast, natural dyes require gentler care. To ensure that your "Indigo" dyed textiles maintain their vibrance and do not bleed, hand wash gently with soap and water.

How do I maintain my Jute Rugs?

Always blot clean any rug stains as soon as a spillage occurs. Start by immediately pressing a clean white paper towel or cloth onto the spillage. Gently patting outward, then move inward. Make sure that as much moisture as possible in removed and absorbed by the cloth.

Whenever liquid has been spilled over your jute rug, and it appears to be of an acidic nature, use club soda instead of water to get rid of the stain fast. Club soda balances the acid in juices and prevents further discolouration. Then, dry your jute rug immediately with a hair dryer.

If you must wash jute items, hand wash separately in cool water using a mild soap. Do not wring or twist the wet fabric. Remember to never rub stains as the can unnecessarily damage or fray edging. Be gentle.

Do natural jute fibres discolour or breakdown over time?

Yes. Just like every other biodegrade-able and eco-friendly material, jute too can breakdown over time. If constantly exposed to direct Sunlight or water, for instance if used outdoors jute fibres can discolour. And constant exposure to water can cause the material to breakdown faster. Otherwise, jute is a fairly resilient fibre.
